Group Supported Employment (GSE) – Mankisha Health Services LLC

Program Description

Mankisha Health Services LLC provides Group Supported Employment (GSE) services through the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). This program supports individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving meaningful, paid employment within community businesses. Participants work in small groups under the supervision of trained job coaches who provide direct support, skill development, and workplace integration.

Service Model

  • Group Size: 2–8 members per team.
  • Work Setting: Community-based (e.g., custodial services, landscaping, packaging, retail support, or contracted business services).
  • Supervision: On-site job coaches provide training, mentoring, safety monitoring, and ongoing support.
  • Compensation: All participants are paid at least minimum wage for their work.
  • Goal: Build workplace skills, foster independence, and when appropriate, prepare members to transition into Individual Supported Employment (ISE).

Member Job Duties

  • Perform assigned work tasks (cleaning, groundskeeping, stocking, packaging, or similar).
  • Follow workplace rules and safety procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with peers and supervisors.
  • Practice communication, punctuality, and problem-solving skills.

Mankisha Staff Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, on-site supervision and coaching.
  • Train members in specific job tasks and workplace expectations.
  • Ensure safety, quality standards, and adherence to employer policies.
  • Promote social skills, teamwork, and independence.
  • Collaborate with DDD Support Coordinators, employers, and families to monitor progress and update service plans.
  • Document member progress, support provided, and employment outcomes.
